Episode 76 - Petrifying Poetry and Malevolent Metal

Good evening! Welcome to poetry night, Bobtober style. Prepare to be petrified with fear, as I read selected works of putrid poetry from Edgar Allen Poe, Emiliy Dickinson, HP Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard. Six poems in all await you, all sinister, all spookily spectacular. Here they are, in order of appearance -

“Dead Man’s Hate” by Robert E. Howard

“Halowe’en In A Suburb” by HP Lovecraft

“Because I Could Not Stop For Death” and “I Felt A Funeral, In My Brain” by Emily Dickinson

“The Haunted Palace” and “The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe.

Writhing in between the phantasmal poems are four songs by Sao Paulo, Brazil’s Goddess’ Of Gore, Nervosa. The songs are (also in order of appearance) “Horrordome”, “Vultures”, “Kill The Silence” and a BRAND NEW SONG, “Guided By Evil”. Join me for these repulsive recreations - if you dare. Episode 66 - Screamin' Jay Hawkins

Jalacy J. Hawkins, better known as Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, was one of a kind. His voice? Have you ever heard a volcano sing in the middle of a tsunami, while frogs were raining down from the sky? That’s close to the strange, powerful and goddamn charming beauty of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and that magic voice of his. He’d pop out of a coffin, sing a song about not being able to poop, strutting about the stage with a skull on a stick smoking a cigarette. If you think that last sentence was strange, wait until you hear the story of how “I Put A Spell On You” was recorded! That story is included in this episode, by the way. A brief history of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins from birth to death, the stories behind a couple of his more well known songs and more! The music of the bands in this episode brings something special - a shock-rock connection via Alice Cooper covers, that’s Sloppy Seconds and BL’AST. Then we have Rocket From The Crypt, because ROCK N ROLL, that’s why. The originator of “Shock-Rock” would be proud. Check out some links below!
